Working with Endeavour, a charity which aims to empower local young people to reach their potential, SYPTE is encouraging the local community to come together to take ownership of Darnall station in Sheffield. A Darnall station group has been set up to get young people involved in improving this under-used station, which has seen problems with anti-social behavior and graffiti. Through this group SYPTE is keen to understand any concerns local people have about rail travel, identifying and overcoming the barriers to travelling on public transport.
In March 2019, SYPTE’s Rail Team organised a community litter pick at Darnall Station, working with Endeavour, Northern Rail and Amey. Local councillors, the neighbourhood policing team, Sheffield Council, local agencies and other charities got involved.
