Alan Millership was in for a treat this week after winning an Apple iPad 2 16GB Wifi in a competition run by Travel South Yorkshire.
The competition was to promote Travel South Yorkshire’s sponsorship of Fright Night 2011 – Sheffield’s annual Halloween carnival.
Alan (68) from Doncaster was picked at random from thousands of entries, having entered the draw at Travel South Yorkshire’s spooky Fright Night stall.
Travel South Yorkshire and First, South Yorkshire's biggest bus operator, worked in partnership to encourage people to travel to Fright Night by public transport, and offered a specially discounted group travel ticket on the day of the event.
South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive Director General, David Brown said: “Congratulations to our competition winner, Alan. We were delighted to sponsor Fright Night, and to work with First to offer great public transport options for getting there. It’s a brilliant event that really brings Sheffield city centre to life.”
As well as the chance to win an iPad 2, visitors to Travel South Yorkshire and First’s Fright Night stall were able to take part in a ‘trick or treat’ lucky dip and get expert Travel Advice.
Fright Night is organised by Yellow Bus Events and is billed the UK’s biggest Halloween party. This year’s event took place in Sheffield on Sunday 30 October and attracted up to 50,000 people.
