Malin Bridge transport terminus

The SL2 Supertram Link service offers residents of Stannington a frequent bus link to the Supertram system at Malin Bridge terminus.

The SL2 service was introduced in 2010 and has historically operated from a bus stop on Loxley New Road (Citybound side).

Plans were approved to construct a new, permanent Supertram Link terminus point at Malin Bridge to improve connections between the Supertram system and SL2 service, and reduce congestion from waiting buses.

Overall works involved enlarging the existing bus layby and creating a new bus lane through the traffic island, to improve access to enable the SL2 to make the return journey to Stannington.

The terminus design and Traffic Regulation Order to allow the works to be constructed were consulted upon and approved by Sheffield City Council in December 2013.

Work on the terminus was carried out by Sheffield City Council’s contractor, Amey, and was completed in October 2014.

The Malin Bridge terminus scheme was funded by the Sheffield City Region Local Sustainable Transport Fund, delivered locally by Inmotion!
