Transport bosses have a special ‘tweet’ in store for Tramlines
- helping people not only to get to the gigs using public transport, but to find their way around the festival using social media.
As well as urging those travelling to Tramlines to make their journeys by public transport, exclusively for Tramlines 2013, Official Travel Partner Travel South Yorkshire
will be using the Twitter feed @TravelSYorks
to provide live updates on queue lengths at venues to their 12,000 strong followers using the hash tag #tramlinestraffic
To make getting to the gigs as easy as possible, Travel South Yorkshire has also teamed up with Stagecoach Supertram
to promote the offer of discounted tram tickets, including special £3 Festival Explorer one-day tickets, £7 Tramlines two-day tickets and deals on Park & Ride.
Those making their way to Tramlines can plan how to get to, from and around the festival in advance using the interactive journey planner tools and live disruption updates at travelsouthyorkshire.com/tramlines
Nigel Cairns, SYPTE Interim Head of Customer Experience, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Tramlines again as Official Travel Partner, helping people from South Yorkshire and the wider region to make their journeys to, from and around this great event by public transport.
“Together with Stagecoach Supertram and #notdriving
, we are trying to reduce the carbon emissions of this year's festival by encouraging those travelling to Tramlines to take advantage of special discounted festival tram tickets and to leave the car at home.”
