Exclusive eco-driving sessions for South Yorkshire drivers

28 September 2015

Inmotion!, working with Sheffield City Council’s Road Safety Section, are holding a series of Eco-Safe Driving sessions for South Yorkshire residents, aimed at improving their road safety and lowering fuel and vehicle maintenance costs.

The free sessions will be held at The Lifewise Centre in Rotherham from 10am to 12.30pm on Sunday 4, Saturday 10 and Sunday 18 October. Residents can book a place by emailing the Inmotion! team at

Drivers who attend the sessions and adopt the Eco-Safe Driving techniques could reduce fuel usage by up to 10%, saving up to £200* per year, as well as improving driver safety, reducing collision rates and helping the local environment.

Over 1,000 drivers and 60 South Yorkshire businesses have benefited from the programme’s expert advice and training since it launched in October 2013.

Lynne Wallis, a South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Community Support Officer from Mexborough, and John Greaves, a Senior Librarian Assistant from Rotherham, took part in the Eco-Safe Driving programme last month.

Lynne said: “I really enjoyed the course and learned a lot of useful information which I am trying to implement already. I was amazed at the improvement in my miles per gallon figures after instruction and would definitely recommend the course to others. Thanks to my instructor, it was a brilliant Sunday morning!”

John added: “The instructor was excellent and informative throughout. These sessions are really beneficial, especially to drivers who have been driving for many years. Technology is moving so quickly, it is all too easy not to get the very best from a vehicle which in turn can be costly to both the driver and the environment.”
