Festive public transport changes in South Yorkshire

15 December 2016

FESTIVE timetables will be in place on South Yorkshire’s buses, trams and trains over the Christmas and New Year period (24 December - 2 January).

Passengers are urged to plan ahead for changes to public transport services and operating times. Revised timetables, last departures, journey planning and live travel information can be found at travelsouthyorkshire.com/christmas, on Twitter @TSYalerts or by calling Traveline 01709 51 51 51.

Most local bus, tram and train services will finish early on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, with last departures from around 6pm. Supertram will follow Saturday timetables from 27 – 30 December. Buses will follow Saturday timetables from 28 – 31 December, and Sunday timetables on 27 December and 2 January. Public transport will not operate on Christmas Day.

Selected buses will run in Sheffield only from 7am – 6.30pm on Boxing Day, operated by First South Yorkshire, Stagecoach Yorkshire and TM Travel, and from 8am – 6.30pm on New Year’s Day, operated by First South Yorkshire.

Supertram Yellow route and Festive Blue route services will operate a special timetable on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, providing trams from Halfway and Middlewood to Meadowhall via the City Centre. Free parking will be available at Sheffield Park & Ride sites.

Rail services will not run on Boxing Day but will run on New Year’s Day. Those travelling by train are encouraged to check with Network Rail or their operating company for any planned engineering works or local service updates.
