PASSENGERS in Barnsley are being urged to check for changes to their bus service ahead of the introduction of the borough’s new bus network from 29 January 2017.
Information about new timetables, routes and tickets is available online at travelsouthyorkshire.com/bbp, at bus stops, in interchanges and on-board buses.
New ‘BConnect’ Day (£4.50), 7 Day (£16) and 28 Day (£60) tickets from TravelMaster that can be used on any bus in Barnsley will complement the new network by offering passengers greater flexibility and a discount compared to current multi-operator tickets.
Barnsley Bus Partnership - a voluntary agreement between local bus companies Stagecoach Yorkshire, Globe Coaches, Waterson Coaches, Barnsley Council and South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive - is putting the changes in place as part of the transport improvement objectives drawn up in the Sheffield City Region Devolution Deal.
The Partnership’s plans aim to better coordinate buses and reduce congestion, make sure services are sustainable and support economic growth. They were shaped following consultation with communities and councillors in June and July 2016 that saw 1,162 people give their views.
