Six bus services will follow an alternative route in Sheffield city centre from the 7th May, as two of the city centre’s busiest bus stops on Arundel Gate close for 10 weeks to allow for essential highways works.
Sheffield Bus Partnership has worked together to redirect and allocate alternative city centre bus stops for all services that usually call at stops AG4 and AG5, located outside Arundel Gate Mini Interchange, to minimise disruption to passengers while the works take place.
Affected bus services 1/1a, 7/8/8a and X1 will run a revised northbound route, from the Moor towards Castlegate, using Furnival Street, Brown Street, Paternoster Row, Pond Street and Flat Street, and will continue their normal route at Angel Street. In this direction, these services will not serve Arundel Gate.
All services travelling in the opposite direction, towards the Moor, will continue to run to their existing routes, along Arundel Gate.
Arundel Gate Mini Interchange will remain open throughout the works.
A Sheffield Bus Partnership spokesperson, said: “The Sheffield Bus Partnership has worked hard to ensure that all services affected during the work on Arundel Gate bridge are reallocated to stops close by, to keep passenger disruption to a minimum and to reduce further congestion to the network. Passengers are encouraged to check for changes to their bus service and plan their journey in advance online at travelsouthyorkshire.com, at bus stops and Interchanges or by calling Traveline 01709 51 51 51.”
Sheffield Bus Partnership is made up of South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive, Sheffield City Council, and bus operators First South Yorkshire, Stagecoach in Sheffield, Sheffield Community Transport and TM Travel.
