Sheffield Bus Partnership consults on bus services


TRANSPORT bosses are inviting people to have their say on proposed changes to some of Sheffield’s bus routes.

In a public consultation, Sheffield Bus Partnership is giving people the opportunity to comment on proposals for changes to a number of the city’s bus services included within the Partnership from Thursday 25 July to Friday 23 August.

Partnership services we particularly want views on, and likely to be affected by these proposed changes are 11/12, 13/13A, 17, 17A, 20/20A, 25, 35-37, 57, 66, 66A, 81, 82, 85, M92 , 95, 123 and SL1.

Sheffield Bus Partnership launched in October 2012 following public consultation and pledged to conduct a review after a year. The proposed changes take into account customer feedback the Partnership has received during the past nine months, and aim to make sure Sheffield’s bus network continues to meet customer needs.

The changes include route and timetable alterations, with some services re-routed to or from Sheffield Interchange. Minor changes and timing amendments to improve punctuality are planned for some other bus services. A number of the proposed service changes are also necessary as a result of plans to move Sheffield Market from Castle Street to The Moor.

People can give their views online at or by filling in a questionnaire, available on most buses or from Travel South Yorkshire Information Centres in Sheffield.

? Sheffield Interchange on Wednesday 21 August 4 – 5.30pm

Sheffield Bus Partnership brings together Stagecoach in Sheffield, First South Yorkshire, Sheffield Community Transport, Sheffield City Council and South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE) in a joint bid to improve the city’s bus offer.

The ground-breaking agreement is the most complex and geographically far reaching partnership of its kind in the UK. Travelling around the city has been made more simple, flexible and convenient with a new range of tickets that can be used on any bus and tram. It provides passengers with coordinated timetables, reduced fares, more services and improved punctuality. New, environmentally friendly low-floor buses have also been introduced.

David Young, SYPTE Deputy Interim Director General, said: “Sheffield Bus Partnership is the people’s bus network, designed in consultation with them, for them. After nearly a year in operation, not only has customer satisfaction and punctuality of the services on the city’s bus network significantly improved, there are 5.8% more adult fare paying passengers travelling than this time last year.

“This consultation provides an ideal opportunity to help us make further improvements by understanding and responding to customer needs.”

Councillor Leigh Bramall, Sheffield City Council Cabinet member for Business, Skills and Development, said: “It’s really important that we get people’s views and I would urge everyone to get involved. We are committed to reducing the amount of significant service changes and creating a stable network, and we want people to say what they think to make Sheffield’s bus network even better.”
