Essential works to future-proof and extend the lifespan of the Supertram network are taking place over a three-year period, beginning in 2018.
The Supertram asset is owned by SYPTE and operated as a concession by Stagecoach. Ensuring the longevity of Supertram infrastructure is a key strand of Sheffield City Region’s plan to improve transport connectivity in South Yorkshire.
The rail replacement project is renewing worn Supertram tracks, laid more than 25 years ago. More than 12 million journeys were made using the Supertram network in 2018/19. These engineering works are vital to maintain the reliable, comfortable and safe level of service passengers in South Yorkshire have come to expect from this much-loved mode of transport.
This project is funded by Sheffield City Region and managed by SYPTE.
