In 2018, work began on the refurbishment of Rotherham Interchange. With millions of people travelling through each year, the interchange is a vital hub for the town, connecting people and places in Rotherham and beyond.
Managed by SYPTE, this multi-million-pound investment has created a better, safer and brighter facility for public transport users visiting, living and working in the town. During the ten-month project, which was completed in spring 2019, improvements to the site included new seating, lighting, public information displays, electrics, flooring, CCTV and free public WIFI.
The renovation to the car park above the interchange has also seen the addition of solar panels to provide the building’s energy needs and the installation of ten electric vehicle charging points.
It is hoped the investment in Rotherham Interchange will encourage more people to use public transport, offering an improved passenger experience and a welcoming and accessible environment to local people and visitors travelling by bus.
