Pat Beijer joined SYPTE as Director of Transport Operations in May 2020. Taking up her role amid the coronavirus pandemic during the first national lockdown meant Pat immediately got to work tackling the issues facing public transport in the region because of COVID-19 restrictions.
Pat played a major role in the design and delivery of a network of over 190 dedicated school services to ensure students could get back to school safely in autumn 2020 and has worked with government and operators to make sure that buses, trams and trains continue to run for people across the region throughout the pandemic. She will also be instrumental in work to secure the future development of the Supertram network and wider activity surrounding light rail in the region.
Prior to joining SYPTE, Pat worked at Northern Rail for 17 years, during which time she was involved in a range of developments, such as the Leeds to Nottingham rail service, Pacer Replacement and introduction of electric trains between Liverpool and Manchester. This experience has given Pat an excellent understanding of the opportunities and challenges of delivering a public transport network that keeps people and commerce moving effectively.
Originally from The Netherlands, Pat graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business/Managerial Economics and has since obtained an Executive Leadership Certificate from Leeds Beckett University.
