SUBJECT: [2992] (Tender) Provision of Tram Low Voltage LED LRT Signal Heads


South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE) owns the Supertram infrastructure. South Yorkshire Supertram Ltd (SYSL) commenced operation in 1994 and SYPTE let a Concession to Stagecoach through SYSL to operate and maintain the Supertram system on its behalf in 1997. This Concession expires in 2024.

As part of the Sheffield City Council (SCC) Streets Ahead PFI Amey as SCC’s contractor has a contractual responsibility to replace all the traffic signals across the city. A number of these traffic signals interface with South Yorkshire Supertram.

The road traffic controllers at sites where there is an interface with South Yorkshire Supertram are being replaced with a modern unit (telent Optima LRT Mode) and the voltage of the road traffic signals is being reduced to a low voltage level of 48Vac.

SYPTE therefore requires a supplier of replacement Tram Low Voltage LED LRT signal heads for the Supertram network.

This contract will run for a term of 5 years with an estimated total value of £300,000.00
